The back cover contains the following text:
The Mandala is a form which symbolically represents elements of the universe taking form in an ordered and harmonious way. A ring of five-colored flames separates the outer physical world of forms from the subtle inner aspects of being. The squares represent the walls of a palace with ornate gateways centered on the four cardinal directions: west at the top, north on the right, east at the bottom, and south to the left. Mantras in ancient Lantsa script surround the palace in brightly colored letters. In the center resides Kalachakra, the main deity of this specific Mandala. An embodiment of the essence of time arising from vast space, Kalachakra imparts knowledge for the benefit of humanity.
